White Sox Flame Out Against Nakayama, Royals
Sunday, September 28th , 2070
In an outstanding mound performance, Kansas City Royals starter Tokutomi Nakayama fired a complete-game shutout against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field today.
Nakayama was the key to the Royals's 3-0 win. The 31-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 5 hits and no walks he allowed.
"5 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
Nakayama has gone 12-9 this season with an ERA of 3.60 and 215 strikeouts in 180 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .217 against him.
