Gómez Strokes 5 Hits Tuesday, June 9th , 2071 Fans at Raley Field got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The Sacramento River Cats outplayed the Reno Aces en route to a 10-9 win, but the standout was catcher Rafael Gómez. Gómez netted 5 hits in 6 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Aces manager said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Rafael Gómez hit a two-run home run off Ray McDaniel in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, walked in the 10th and hit an RBI double in the 12th. So far this year in 32 games Gómez is hitting .218 with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored. |
