Zero Hour: Mejía Blanks Zephyrs Thursday, June 18th , 2071 José Mejía of the Nashville Sounds was on fire against the New Orleans Zephyrs at Herschel Greer Stadium today. He shut them out 1-0 on 1 hit, collecting 7 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk. "The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Mejía said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that." Mejía has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 6-2 record with a 3.53 ERA. The Nashville reliever has limited opposing batters to a .219 batting average. |
