Martínez Stretches Hit String to 25 Saturday, July 26th , 2070 Win or lose, Rafael Martínez just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 2 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games. The Helena Bonham Carters left fielder went 2-for-5 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 10-6 by the NWL Twins at Maryvale Baseball Park. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Rafael Martínez hit a solo-shot off Dominic Clarke in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year Martínez has hit 22 home runs and posted a .357 batting average. |
