Steeplejacks Smerdel May's Top Hurler Monday, June 1st , 2071 In May, the top-rated pitcher in the Northwest League was a reliever. It's not a common occurrence, but it does happen occasionally. The Twin Peaks Steeplejacks fine hurler, Leonhard Smerdel stood out so much that he was picked the best Pitcher of the Month by the Northwest League. The Steeplejacks bullpen ace was brilliant with 1 save in 15 relief appearances, a 4-0 won-lost mark and 2.13 ERA. He worked 38 innings, allowed 35 hits, struck out 36 and walked 10. So far this year Smerdel has been credited with 1 save, registered a 4.70 ERA and struck out 58 in 59.1 innings. He also has a 4-1 record. |
