Ellis Gulf Coast Rookie League's Hottest Hitter
Monday, August 2nd , 2032
Atlanta (GCL) fans have something to crow about today as Atlanta (GCL) catcher Brent Ellis nabbed the Gulf Coast Rookie League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.
"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Ellis.
He posted a .684 average (13-for-19) this past week with no home runs, 6 RBIs, and 4 runs scored.
Ellis is swinging at a .633 pace on the year with no home runs, 12 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has played in 8 games.
