The Papeete Black Pearls topped the Honiara Dragons by the score of 5-2 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Maui Shield today. The largest share of the credit went to player of the game and Papeete starter Fata Hudson, who threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs in the win.

The Black Pearls beat the Dragons with some clutch hitting. The home run by Julian Kerslake in the bottom of the sixth is a good example. With two down, Kerslake gave his team the lead, 4-1, when he came through with the big hit.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Papeete manager Steve Meyers.

The next game is scheduled for Thursday, October 17th, 2024 at Dragons Ballpark. The scheduled starters for the game are Mika Afatia for Papeete and Frédéric Djamali for Honiara.
