A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Noumea Devils and Port Moresby Wigmen.

Noumea Devils starter Tai fat Lao was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Port Moresby Wigmen, 5-1. Noumea is 5th in the Melanesia League with a record of 45-51.

Lao pitched a complete game for Noumea. The left-hander, who calls Touliu, Taiwan, his home, racked up 12 Ks, while allowing just 2 hits. Wigmen hitters could not touch his changeup -- nor any other pitch, for that matter.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Lao told the Noumea Chronicle.
