Big Game from Hoarau Not Enough, Kumuls Lose
|
The Lae Kumuls got a sterling performance from first baseman Sebastien Hoarau, but the Vanuatu Vulcans still prevailed, 9-8. Hoarau slugged 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. Afano Adams was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities. Vanuatu, with the win, climbs to 31-69.
Vanuatu used a clutch hit from Joel Wong to get the win. The shortstop drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Vulcans ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Wong crowed after the game.
