Kings Drop Black Pearls, 6-1
|
The Tonga Kings picked up a win at Black Pearls Ballpark, knocking off the Papeete Black Pearls, 6-1. Starting pitcher Mathis Chang was a big reason why. Chang got the win, improving to 9-7. He allowed 8 hits and walked 0 over 8.1 innings. Chang allowed 1 run. At 51-53, the Kings find themselves in third place in the Polynesia League.
The Kings grabbed the lead in the top of the third. With no one out, Trevor Isaia, who is tied for 8th in the PL in extra base hits with 47, hit a 3-run home run off Filo Mika, putting Tonga in front, 5-0. For Isaia, it was his 23rd home run of the season.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Chang told the Tonga Times. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
