The Lae Kumuls had to overcome a fine effort from Nadi pitcher Léo Tunutu to grab a narrow 3-1 win at Udre Udre Field. Tunutu went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Tim Lotomau went 5 innings for Lae to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with no runs. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. His record improves to 1-0. Duncan Titus, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
Sebastien Hoarau, the 2056 Hitter of the Year Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hoarau contributed a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put Lae up, 2-0.
Hoarau told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
The win for the Kumuls lifted their record to 69-51.
