Wild Card Championship Goes the Distance, Ottawa Prevails
The Wild Card Championship went the distance before it all was said and done.

The Ottawa Knights and the Chi-town Coalition went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Round Table Stadium, the winner was the Knights.

They put away Chi-town 9-2 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the League Championship.

For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Chi-town first baseman Willie McCovey was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .429, scored 5 runs and batted in 9 to win the honor.

"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.

The Ottawa Knights will play against the Edmonton Trappers in the next round. Edmonton had a bye in the Wild Card Championship. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Championship finishes.
