With second baseman Kuan Zhang leading the charge, the Honolulu Rays defeated the Hollywood Stars, 10-4, at Hollywood Grounds. Zhang, who finished 2nd in the UL in on-base percentage with .431 in 1968, was 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Andre Simpson, the winner, goes to 16-3. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts over 7 innings. The triumph puts Honolulu at 75-55 for the season.

Honolulu used the bat of Emery Hutchinson to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rays ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

Zhang told the Honolulu Daily News: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
