The California Seals topped the Bronx Bombers, 5-3, in Canis League action at Seals Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to California pitcher and Lake Arrowhead, Maine, native Daniel Ward. Ward got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Ward allowed 2 runs. California goes to 12-18.

The Seals got an important contribution from second baseman Paul Donahue, who in the bottom of the second punched a first pitch fastball into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Seals ahead, 3-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Ward said.
