The Bronx Bombers picked up a win at Municipal Stadium, knocking off the Philadelphia Athletics, 6-4. On the mound for Bronx was left-hander Bobby Miller, who played a pivotal role in the win. The 7th-place Bombers lifted their record to 20-18.

Bronx used a clutch hit from Roger Allen to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bombers ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Allen. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
