San Francisco Meatballs starter Masazumi Chikafuji was in fine form against the Ottawa Knights at Round Table Stadium, leading his team to a win, 5-3. Chikafuji went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 5-2. Armando Negrete collected his 2nd save.

San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Dave Concepcion to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Meatballs on top, 5-3. For the game, Concepcion had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Chikafuji. "Successful pitchers do it."
