209 Win, 5-1, at Hollywood
|
Jim Nash never let the Vampires get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the 209 to a win, 5-1. The Vampires fall to 8-15 and continue their lackluster start to the 1974 season.
Stockton relied on the bat of Rusty Staub to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the 209 ahead, 3-0. For the game, Staub had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Nash.
