The Stockton 209 wiggled past the Montreal Royals, 6-5, at Stockton Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Stockton pitcher David Torres. The win was credited to Allen Giles in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Bill Kidder took the loss. With the victory, the 209 upped their record to 18-15.

The 209 relied on right fielder Willie Davis for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 12th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Torres told the Stockton Chronicle. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
