The Houston Colt .45s outlasted Brian Fowler and the Hollywood Stars, 8-7. Fowler was impressive in the loss. The Hollywood first baseman went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Yoshifumi Tada in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Joël Garcia took the loss. Jon Gregory earned the save for Houston, his 2nd.

Juan Rodríguez, who finished 4th in the UL in stolen bases with 40 last year, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 1-5, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Rodríguez. "And not try to do too much."

The Colt .45s raised their record to 5-1.
