Athletics Turn Back Bronx, 3-1
|
The Philadelphia Athletics got a magnificent performance from pitcher Bob Wiggins, who muffled the Bronx offense en route to a tight 3-1 Athletics win at Municipal Stadium. Philadelphia is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Graham Burch drew 1 walk for Philadelphia. The 26-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bobby Miller. It was his 31st RBI of the season.
Wiggins said his team "played with focus."
