The Ottawa Knights faced a tough opponent in Carolina pitcher Clay Kirby, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Sea Unicorns Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Kirby went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Jon Smith picked up the save, his 1st. Carolina is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.

The Knights got a big hit from left fielder Bill Mitchell. In the top of the ninth, Mitchell smacked a 2-run home run off Carolina pitcher Forrest Jackson. It was his 15th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Knights were ahead, 4-3.

"Good win for our guys," said Mitchell.
