Sledge Rips 2 Home Runs in 6-5 Meatballs Triumph
San Francisco and California duked it out and the Meatballs came out victorious.

The 6-5 San Francisco win over California was due in large part to Dale Sledge. The Meatballs third baseman slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to Alexis Hendricks in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Eric Norman took the loss.

Sledge contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for San Francisco in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Sledge took a slider from Eric Norman and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Meatballs to leap in front, 5-3.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said California manager Edmond Hanson. "But we decided not to take it."

California, at 55-64, has lost 4 straight.
