San Francisco got a first-rate effort from pitcher Steve D Barber, who frustrated Redwood hitters en route to a 2-0 Meatballs triumph at John Otto Field at Mathews Bridge. Earning his 39th save of the year was Armando Martínez. The second-place Meatballs have a record of 90-48.

Barber allowed no runs over 8.2 innings. He also racked up 8 strikeouts.

"This was a good win for us," said Barber. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
