Shoemaker Helps Hurricanes Beat Rays, 5-1
|
The Puerto Rico Hurricanes downed the Honolulu Rays, 5-1, at Estadio Hiram Bithorn. The Hurricanes were led by Greg Shoemaker. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The Hurricanes improve their record to 30-40 with the win over Honolulu.
With Puerto Rico leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Shoemaker hit a fastball from Eric Stokes for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Hurricanes ahead, 4-0.
Shoemaker said his team "played with determination."
