Wagner Twirls 7-0 Shutout Tuesday, August 1st , 1972 Bob Wagner led the Montreal Royals to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Hollywood Stars at Hollywood Grounds today. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Wagner recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." Wagner yielded 5 hits and had 13 strikeouts and 1 walk in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Hollywood manager Buddy Davis said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching." On his stats sheet for the year Wagner shows a 10-9 record, 22 starts, 167.1 innings, 165 strikeouts and a 4.20 ERA.
