Heinrich 5-for-5 for Pitbulls
Saturday, July 28th , 1973
The Prairie Ridge Pitbulls stopped the Sioux City Soos by a score of 7-6 at Prairie Ridge Park today, with the lion's share of the credit going to right fielder Lutz Heinrich. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Heinrich said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Heinrich did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Soos.
"Not much that I can say," offered Sioux City manager Ed Cummings. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Lutz Heinrich singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Clayton Blevins in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Charlie Kuhl in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This season Heinrich has 7 home runs and a .292 batting average.
