20-Game Hitting Streak for Burns
Monday, August 21st , 1972
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.

Chris Burns did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Rolling Rock Park today. For the last 20 games in a row, the 22-year-old third baseman has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Madawaska Orioles beat the Asheville Tourists 4-3 today.

"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Burns told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Madawaska clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day."
Chris Burns doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

In 117 games this year Burns has posted a .316 average and put up these numbers: 22 home runs, 79 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
