It's Over: Reds Stop Hudson
Friday, August 31st , 1973
It was a doubly miserable day today for Frank Hudson of the Texarkana Bears, as he saw his 35-game hitting streak end and his team lose 6-5 to the Shelby Reds at Shelby Field. The 23-year-old third baseman was held hitless in 1 at-bat by the Reds.
"Anyone on a 35-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Shelby manager Jack Hamilton said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done."
Presently Hudson is batting .325 with 119 hits and 8 home runs. He has knocked in 49 runs and scored 49 times.
