The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Edmonton Cubs today.

Fort Myers center fielder Garry Maddox tripled up on the home runs to propel the Armada to the 12-11 win at Locomotives Stadium.

"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Edmonton manager Takakazu Ito said. "Maddox hit the heck out of the ball."

In addition to the homers, Maddox collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."

Garry Maddox struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Scott Mayer in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Scott Mayer in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Julius Harden in the 8th.

This season Maddox has hit at a .316 clip with 34 RBIs, 11 home runs and 51 runs scored. He has played in 75 games.
