Hot Bat Cooled, Moya Hitless Against River Bandits
Tuesday, August 29th , 1972
The North Ridgeville River Bandits did something to Carlos Moya no team had done for the last 21 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Mets, who came away with the 6-5 victory at North Ridgeville Fields.
"Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 20-year-old second baseman said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted."
Moya's current batting average stands at .427 and he has chalked up 15 home runs and 58 RBIs.
