Vance Tosses 7-0 Shutout Sunday, June 11th , 1972 Everything clicked on the hill today for Sandy Vance as he hurled the Glenavon Pipers to a 7-0 shutout win over the Bethesda Gamers, limiting them to 7 hits while recording 2 strikeouts and yielding 4 walks. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches. "We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Gamers manager Bernie Dunne said. "We just weren't able to get to him." To date this season Vance sports a 5-3 mark with a 4.43 ERA in 12 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .314 batting average and has 45 strikeouts in 83.1 innings. |
