Schaefer Deals Golden Eagles 2-0 Shutout Friday, August 29th , 1997 The Charlotte Legion did little to support starter Chris Schaefer against the Little Silver Golden Eagles, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Golden Eagles, striking out 4 and surrendering 6 hits. The performance from Schaefer allowed Charlotte to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said 'Chris, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Schaefer told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it." To this point in the season he has had no saves. Schaefer has made 2 relief appearances, tossed 149 innings and struck out 91 with a record of 9 wins and 4 losses. |
