The Akron Vulcans took Rapid City pitcher Anton Shakhkian's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Loch Ness. The final score had Akron getting past the Galaxy, 2-1. Shakhkian went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 3. Tim Wall, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. With the loss, Rapid City falls to 4-10.
The game came to an abrupt end with one out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Edward Mawhinney, Lou Shaw hit a run-scoring double. It gave Akron the 2-1 win.
Shaw attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
