The Milwaukee Milkers had to overcome a fine performance from Los Angeles pitcher Michael Penis Jr. to grab a 3-2 win at MILF Hunter Park. Penis Jr. allowed 1 run over 7 innings. Carl Turner, the winning pitcher, is now 2-2. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 0. The win puts Milwaukee at 18-17 this season.
Milwaukee used the clutch hitting of Octávio Valentín to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Milkers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Los Angeles manager Mike Smith.
