Reapers Rally Late to Nip Vulcans
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
The Shadowland Reapers defeated the Akron Vulcans in 10 innings, 4-3, in part because of right fielder Albert Pérez. Pérez went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Reapers. Shadowland reliever Brian Bickerton got the win, raising his record to 4-1. Charles Stevenson was tagged with the loss.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out, Pérez hit a changeup from Charles Stevenson for a solo home run. The Reapers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"This place was rocking at the end," Pérez said.
Akron now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
