Manatees Down Scorpion Kings, 8-4
|
The Miami Manatees overcame a good performance by Death Valley third baseman Kent Sanders to knock off Death Valley, 8-4, at The People's Republic of Death Valley Brutalist Architecture Museum and Sporting Complex. Sanders went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. At 52-54, Miami is in 5th place in the Origin League Bottom Right.
Miami relied on the hitting of Phil Torres to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Manatees on top, 5-0. For the game, Torres had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It feels good to get this one," Torres told the Miami Daily.
