Edwards Sharp in 3-0 Shutout
|
The Los Angeles Brazzers of Burbank shut out the Phoenix Lobos 3-0 today behind the strong pitching of Louis Edwards. Edwards surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 8.
Following the last out, Edwards appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Phoenix manager Turk Turk, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Edwards's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Lobos skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Brazzers of Burbank press conference, Edwards confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Edwards said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Los Angeles manager Mike Smith added.
Edwards has gone 8-9 this season with an ERA of 3.46 and 196 strikeouts in 184.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .235 against him.
