The Ft. Wayne Fighters got a superb performance from third baseman Reed Sgambati, but the Winnipeg Goldeyes still won the game, 7-4. Sgambati was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jon Acosta got the save, the 8th for him this season. At 24-29, Winnipeg is in 4th place in the American Association North Division.
An impactful at-bat came in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the batter, Ozzie Orozco, hit a sacrifice fly. It made the score 4-3, Winnipeg, and helped them go on to win.
Orozco said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
