Swans Slap 2-1 Loss on Bombers

South Melbourne Swans starter Trey Sherwin was in fine form against the Newcastle Bombers at Newcastle Park, leading his team to a win, 2-1. In 8 innings, Sherwin surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Matt Garnham, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
South Melbourne took a 2-1 lead on Hector Gomez's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run came off Newcastle pitcher Herb Bartholomew in the top of the seventh.
"Trey is tough when he's hitting his spots," said South Melbourne manager JT Bruett.
The loss drops the Bombers to 9-3.
