Raiders Best Demons, 6-1
|
The Canberra Raiders knocked off the Melbourne Demons, 6-1, at Canberra Stadium. Matt Melsome was a big reason Canberra won. The pitcher threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The Raiders have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 5th win in 15 games.
In the bottom of the seventh, Canberra right fielder Darrien Simmons hit a 2-run single to right field. The clutch hit made it, 3-1, Raiders.
"I feel honored to be a part of this team," said Simmons.
