Fairfield shortstop Les Freier went down swinging at Paddington Park today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Robins fell, 8-7.

"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Freier said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Paddington Workers. "No offense meant to Paddington, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."

After the game, his manager elaborated on the shortstop's improvements, saying Freier spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.

"That's what I'm trying to do," Freier agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
