Geelong Gets 8-6 Win Against Roosters
|
The Geelong Cats topped the East Sydney Roosters, 8-6, with center fielder Brandon Horopapera playing a big role. Horopapera went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Cats in the win. The winner was Brenden Hancox, who threw 73 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. The Cats now have a mark of 43-46.
The Cats got an important contribution from second baseman Frederick Ella, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a cutter into right-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 30th double of the season and put the Cats ahead, 6-4.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Horopapera.
