Knights Snatch Late Win
|
The Collingwood Magpies and Essendon Knights were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Essendon Knights handed the Collingwood Magpies a loss at Victoria Park. The final score was 8-4. Geoff Sandow made the highlight reel for Essendon. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. He also added 2 bases on balls. The win was credited to Doug Shuker in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Landon Hebron took the loss.
Ben Honeyfield, the 23-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Honeyfield contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Essendon up, 5-4.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Sandow said after the game.
The win boosted Essendon to 62-55.
