Hung-k'uei Liao was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Carlton and Canberra. The Blues left-hander helped his team beat the Raiders, 2-1. Gerald Cardell finished to wrap up his 36th save. Carlton goes to 78-52. The win puts them 6 games up in their division.

Carlton used the timely hitting of Michael Morrall to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blues ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Blues," said Liao.
