Cookson Gets 5 Hits
It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by Steve Cookson of the Lidcombe Swans.

The Lidcombe shortstop gave it his all and dominated Redfern Railroaders pitching today at Redfern Oval - Outer, finishing with a great 5-for-5 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Railroaders going home the winner, 11-10.

"There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Cookson said later. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead."

Steve Cookson doubled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Darren Farrell in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Neil Hayne in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Cookson is batting .290 this season in 75 games with 6 home runs, 39 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 75 hits in 259 at-bats.
