Swans, Cats Play 10 to Settle Game 1, South Melbourne Now Leads Series 1-0
|
One game in and the Semi Final Series is already looking exhausting.
The South Melbourne Swans and the Geelong Cats needed 10 innings to settle Game 1, with the Swans finally taking the 2-1 victory at Kardinia Park. Excelling in the win was South Melbourne starting pitcher Kadin Balby, who threw 8.0 innings allowing 1 runs. The Swans and Cats are playing a best-of-7 series.
South Melbourne used a clutch hit from Calvin Ingleby to get the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Swans ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Kadin is tough when he's hitting his spots," said South Melbourne manager JT Bruett.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Kardinia Park in Geelong.
