Bears Get One-Run Win at Wests
|
The North Sydney Bears got a strong performance from pitcher Mike Agar, who stymied the Wests offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Leichhardt Oval. North Sydney reliever Tim Barke picked up the win to move to 1-0. Luke Badeley suffered the loss. Luke Sarkies, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
North Sydney used the timely hitting of Jofet Triga to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bears on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said North Sydney manager Adam Brisske. "It's usually not just one thing."
Wests falls to 1-5.
