Dragons End Courtier's Streak
Tuesday, December 6th, 1983
It was the best of both worlds for the St. George Dragons today at Redfern Oval, as they defeated the South Sydney Rabbitohs 3-2 and also snapped Ted Courtier's 21-game hitting streak. The 29-year-old South Sydney first baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.

"Nothing personal against Courtier, we just wanted to win the game," said Dragons skipper David Damrel. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Courtier frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."

This season Courtier has hit at a .333 clip with 42 RBIs, 15 home runs and 34 runs scored.
