Wally Watson was a calming influence out of the Ryde Hawks bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 23-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Youth League Reliever of the Year Award for 2021.

The Sydney, Australia native won the award with 12 saves in 30 relief appearances, 44 strikeouts in 37 innings and a record of 6-0 to go with his 0.73 ERA.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 12. Denis Birstall of the Ryde Hawks finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Ray Kemsley of the Mascot Pilots finished third.
