Walburn Bashes 5 Base Hits
Saturday, April 23rd , 2022
The Carlton Blues stopped the Geelong Cats by a score of 11-0 at Princes Park today, with the lion's share of the credit going to center fielder Cane Walburn. The 24-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Walburn said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Walburn did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Cats.
"Not much that I can say," offered Geelong manager Stacy Shaikin. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Cane Walburn doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Corie Nash in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
In this current campaign Walburn is hitting at a .441 clip with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.
